Now we arrived at the very important away game in Athens. We need the 3 points to get a good position for qualification. The best news is that Mertesacker can play and he will add more security to our defence line, a thing that lacked in the last two Bundesliga games.

The last 2 visits in Greece didn't end good for us but maybe the 3rd time is the lucky one.

 

2-2 and we got a point, but the manner in which we did disappointed me. We made a poor match especially in the first half, but in the end the point is what counts. Inter won so now we're only one point behind Famagusta and 2 ahead of Pana. We need to concentrate on the next 2 games and get at least 4 points(6 will be a dream and 99% qualification).

 

The only thing that makes me hope is that Athens wasn't better in any way. But the manner in which we played could fear you. Big holes in the whole defense, no action on both offensive wings,... Same as all the last games in the Bundesliga. Too many simple mistakes. What was for example Petri doing before the 2nd goal? Frightening.
3 points at home against Panathinaikos, nothing else counts.

 

After a little pause I'm back on the forum but for what? To cry once again for an incredible bad performance of Werder. We just blew away a very good chance of improving our chances of going to the next phase of CL with a hard defeat against Pana
Well, we still depend only on us for qualifying, but considering we didn't managed to win in the first 4 games it will be damn hard to get 6 points from the last 2 matches. But until the end we can hope for another Werder miracle, because for the moment, this is what we need: a miracle.

And now we go into another crucial game for us. This time any other result than a win will mean we lose our objective: qualify for the next round in CL. IN the first match against Famagusta we have a big number o goal scoring situations but we failed to capitalize. This time we must be more accurate in front of the goal. A win, combined with defeat of Panathinaikos in Milan will mean we go in the last round as the number 2 team in the group and we play against a team already qualified.
Believe it or not we can also qualify from this group, even if we are now the 4th team with only tonights win. For this to happend we must hope for a defeat of Pana tonight and a draw in the Panathinaikos - Famagusta game in 2 weeks time.

But Werder will have to think of only one thing: win tonight and win in 2 weeks time. This way we can come back to the place we haven't seen for 3 years now: the last 16 of Champions League! WERDER :svw_schal:

I wish this season would be already over - or better would have never started...

 

And once again after a miserable result against Karlsruher it was time for a history book result: 2-1 against Inter. Like we do in CL for the past 3 years, we manage to win against the best team in the group but we fail to qualify for the next round. It's once again time for Uefa Cup football, but this is better than nothing.

A good performance today in the second part got us the win and i hope we can build on that Saturday. It will be even tougher for us considering Pizarro will be suspended, but today it was demonstrated once again that for us it is really not that important which players are on the field(today we missed Diego, Naldo, Almeida) but the player's determination. We had that wright attitude today and it was seen in the final result.

 

Here I am! After 3 months of pause from the forum i'm ready to open my usual topic about the next Werder match!

The next opponent will be the 4th power of Serie A, Sampdoria. Like many of visitors of this section knows, i'm italian, so i know very well "Doria" (affective name of Sampdoria). They ara a good, but not excellent, team, and this year no important transfer was done by Genova's Team. Strong strikers like Cassano-Pazzini and an important defensive midfielder like Palombo are the most dangerous things about Samp.

I'm trustful for this match: i think that Werder will win against Sampdoria, because they haven't so much european experience (new trainer Di Carlo is at his first apperance). Let's see this match today at 8.45pm!

 

Is Cassano the same guy that was with Roma? I seem to remember they expected big things from him when he arrived but haven't heard much from him since.

Do you live anywhere near Nizza Monferato? My sister has just moved there to live. I saw Torino on the map when I was looking for it.

wish we'd got Rangers but Spurs is a second best option for the Scottish Werder! Good thing is that there isn't too much travelling for any of the games.

We usually beat italians, and spurs are a good team, but they're beatable for sure. So is Twente.

 

CL game v Spurs in London is 24th Nov. Seriously, what are the chances of getting tickets for this game? We're looking at coming down from Scotland for this game.
