Captain Friedl extends stay

SV Werder Bremen have secured a longer stay for a vital member of the team. Marco Friedl has extended his contract with the club and will continue to lead the team out as captain in the years ahead. Head of professional football Peter Niemeyer made the announcement on Friday.

Marco Friedl ruled out with injury

Three different Werder players needed treatment during the 1-0 home win over 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Friday night. Goalscorer Leonardo Bittencourt’s game came to an end after just 36 minutes, while Anthony Jung was forced off with four minutes left to play.
