Now all formalities have been completed, the deal is done! Oliver Burke has joined SV Werder Bremen from Sheffield United. He is with his new teammates on the way to Austria for the training camp.
“Oliver has seen a lot in his career so far and with 110 appearances in top divisions, he’s certainly experienced. He’s physically strong and quick, which will help our game,” said Clemens Fritz, head of scouting and professional football.
The Scotland international will be a new attacking option for head coach Ole Werner. “Oliver has played up front and on the wings in his career, where he utilised his pace. He will provide us with more options up front.”
“It’s nice to return to the Bundesliga and to join a big club like Werder Bremen,” said Oliver Burke. “I was pleased to hear of Werder’s interest and I’m now happy to be here. I want to help the team with the experience I’ve gained over the last few years. I will train hard so I can contribute to the team’s success.”
The striker has played in four of Europe’s top leagues, representing Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League (40 games, 1 goal), RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga (25 games, 1 goal), Deportivo Alavés in La Liga (31 games, 1 goal) and Celtic in the Scottish Premiership (14 games, 4 goals).
