Werder trio with good memories of Oberneuland

The opponents: After seven years, FC Oberneuland were promoted back to the Regionalliga Nord in 2019/20. Last season, they took on Werder’s U23s on 21st October 2020. SVW won 4-1, with Kebba Badjie, Eren Dinkci and Abdenego Nankishi all getting on the scoresheet. Badjie and Nankishi will be in Werder’s first-team squad this time to face FCO. The Regionalliga season was cancelled after 10 matchdays in 2020/21. Oberneuland were sat in seventh with 12 points.

Ahead of the game: SV Werder Bremen and FC Oberneuland have agreed to play two 60-minute matches. Head coach Markus Anfang will therefore have the chance to gain a better insight into his squad. "Our goal for the next game will be for every player to feature for at least 60 minutes, and then to increase that to 90 minutes for the next game. That's our main focus at the moment. I think if we manage to achieve that then we'll be on the right level in terms of playing time. Of course we want to deliver two good performances in these games," Anfang said in the lead up to the game.
