Christian Groß discusses his recent good form

“I showed last season that I’m always there and ready to perform if the coach needs me,” says Christian Groß. His recent contract extension serves as confirmation that Groß has developed into an important part of the Werder first-team squad. “Every Bundesliga match is something special, it’s just something that I try to enjoy. Sometimes I go home and I almost have to pinch myself,” admits Groß, who has been starting more and more Bundesliga games of late. “You can’t let yourself relax at times like this, though. I’m simply trying to make the most of it by working hard in training,” he adds.

Christian Groß played the decisive pass to Josh Sargent in the match against Frankfurt, with the American scoring the opening goal of the match. With that through ball, Groß proved his ability to provide assists, but he’s remaining quiet on whether he will be adding more goals to his own game. “I’m not the type of player who scores too often, but to get a goal is obviously something special. I went close against Frankfurt, so maybe one will find its way in soon.”
