Special circumstances require special measures. The mixed zone with Kevin Vogt took place on Thursday afternoon as usual, without any media representatives. The defender answered a few questions, mostly concerning the latest individual training session. “I was happy to have finished all that running. Honestly. I haven't been that ambitious trying to run through the park in a long time. Some of the people in Cologne wondered if I was alright because I was breathing so heavily,” Vogt admitted.

The 28-year-old described the program that he received from athletics trainer Günther Stoxreiter, who also put together a training program for all fans, as "very demanding”. After I was done, there wasn’t much fuel left in the tank, Vogt admitted.

Master of Yahtzee and Uno

“After that the most I could do was a walk with my girlfriend and the dogs. But it was good, I can tell. Whilst I’m cursing 'Stoxi' for these workouts and have had to ask him plenty of questions in order to try and understand them, I can say that I'm running at a very high level,” said Vogt, who adds with a smile: “I’m on my way to the top.”

Of course, the loanee central defender spends most of his free time at home. "I am now extremely good at Yahtzee and Uno," said Werder’s number 3 as he gave an insight into his unusual everyday life in recent weeks. He did however add that thanks to this, he now feels injury-free: "I can no longer complain about injury.” Both Vogt and his teammates will therefore return fit after the break. At least when it comes to the defender: “Our task is, when the day comes, to be ready - and we will be.”
