Both clubs agreed on a loan extension on Wednesday, as announced by sporting director Frank Baumann. “Football at a high level is very important for Romano’s development. Thanks to a strong campaign last season, Wolfsberg will take part in this season’s Europa League. For Romano, that is a chance to gain some valuable international experience at a very young age,” explained Baumann.
Schmid appeared in 12 of a possible 14 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsberg last season, in which he scored one goal and picked up one assist. In the first half of the campaign, the attacking midfielder was on loan at Austrian second-division side FC Liefering.
