Osako put in a brilliant performance and had a number of goalscoring opportunities. The 28-year-old, who moved from 1. FC Köln to Werder, got to the ball from a corner and headed it in to put Japan up 2-1. His day would come to an end ten minutes later, when he made way for Shinji Okazaki.
Osako and Co. will play in their second group H game on Sunday 24.06.18 against Senegal.
