48th minute: After some nice combination play between Bartels, Kruse and Junuzovic, Gnabry receives the ball on the left, he makes some room for himself but can only find the side netting with his shot.
53rd minute: Mathew Leckie’s miss-hit cross almost deceives Drobny as the ball loops over him. However, the goalkeeper positions himself well and doesn’t have to intervene, as the ball goes out for a goal-kick anyway.
58th minute: Goal, Markus Sutter equalises for Ingolstadt. It was a delightfully hit free kick from Suttner, who beats Drobny from 25 yards.
60th minute: Almost straight after they concede, Werder go up the other end and carve out a huge chance. However, Bartels can’t finish with the outside of his foot after being send through on goal after a one-two with Pizarro.
68th minute: It’s trademark Gnabry. He beats his man and cuts inside from the left to unleash a shot. However, this time his effort doesn’t have the necessary power to trouble Hansen.
76th minute: GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLL! 2-1 to Werder, Fin Bartels! Hajrovic, who has just come on for Kruse, tries his luck from outside the box. Hansen saves but Gnabry keeps the ball alive, he squares it to Pizarro inside the six yard box but he too can’t put the ball in. The Peruvian keeps his cool though and lays Bartels off who makes no mistake, smashing the ball into the roof of the net from close-range.
83rd minute: The visitors are refusing to lie down and push for a second equaliser. Hartmann sets up Cohen who doesn’t make the most of an almost free shot from 18 yards.
90th minute: SVW get let off the hook. Moisander and Sané both go to clear Suttner’s long ball but neither cut it out, Leckie finds himself in front of goal but drags the ball wide.
90+4th minute: Full time is finally called after a nervy final ten minutes. Shortly before the final whistle, Drobny comes up with a huge save to deny a Hartmann header – the Czech saves the three points for his side.
Summary: Both sides set a good tempo to the game but the alert defences and quality tackling meant there weren’t many chances towards the start of the game. However, SVW were clinical and took advantage of their chance when it came. Overall, Werder looked well drilled to handle the visitors’ pressing and avoided losing the ball in their own half. After the restart, FCI were much more attacking and were rewarded for their courage with a goal. However, Nouri’s men didn’t want to settle for a point and showed a lot of commitment, fighting back and reclaiming the lead to hold on for a deserved three points.
