46th minute: Nouri makes a double change which sees Robert Bauer and Izet Hajrovic replaced by Janek Sternberg and Fin Bartels. Hopefully these are the changes Werder need to be more of a threat going forwards.
51st minute: GOOAAL for Werder! Lamine Sané nods in the equaliser and his first Bundesliga goal for SVW from close range, after Gnabry then Gebre Selassie both head on a Junuzovic free-kick.
54th minute: SVW again go close! This time a shot from Florian Grillitsch stings the palms of Daniel Esser in the Darmstadt goal, he is then replaced by Daniel Heuer-Fernandes after injuring himself during Werder’s goal.
59th minute: Bartels saves Werder from going behind again! Jerome Gondorf gets on the end of a cross from the right hand side and would have poked the ball home if it wasn’t for Fin Bartels sliding in to block his shot on the line. Werder then counter and Ousman Manneh fires two shots at Heuer-Fernandes who saves twice.
62nd minute: The next Green-White chance – Junuzovic’s corner finds Gebre Selassie but his header is straight at the goalkeeper. At the moment, Werder look the more likely to get the next goal, nevertheless, the Lilies are still dangerous on the counter.
67th minute: GOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLL! WERDER COME BACK FROM A GOAL DOWN! Amazing scenes! Manneh plays Gnabry through on goal, the Gambian looks unhappy with his pass; he thinks it’s too heavy. However, Gnabry turns on the afterburners and gets on the end of it, he rounds the goalkeeper and keeps his cool to put Werder into the lead.
73rd minute: Darmstadt level things up just six minutes later. Gondorf play a long diagonal ball towards Colak in the box and the striker volleys the ball into the far post from a tight angle. It’s a goal from nothing just when Werder looked to have control of the game.
85th minute: The game has become more open and the heavens have opened - now it’s a battle of will. Can Werder repeat last week’s late heroics?
89th minute: What a chance! Gebre Selassie gets on the end of another Junuzovic corner but Heuer-Fernandes somehow blocks the header!
90th minute: Full time in Darmstadt. SVW and Darmstadt 98 share the spoils. Werder will feel they could have won the game but a point still isn’t a bad result.
Summary: Werder initially had problems breaking down the Darmstadt defence and had no shots on goal in the first half. However, Werder found the solution to this in the second period and deservedly took the lead, albeit temporarily. Despite showing great fight and spirit, Werder have to settle for a point heading into the international break.
