For Thomas Delaney, going back visiting ex-club FC Copenhagen was a particularly special experience. The 25-year.old arrived at the Stadion Telia Parken by helicopter and presented his former teammates with the Danish league trophy. Delaney was warmly received by the fans of the Danish capital city club and really cranked up the atmosphere in the stadium.
Other members of the Werder first team squad have also taken a trip back to their sporting pasts. Theodor Gebre Selassie stopped by to watch Slovan Liberec with his family in his native Czech Republic. Lamine Sané went back to watch his second junior team, US Lormont, last Sunday.
Robert Bauer’s contact with sporting past involves swapping one football shirt for another. He exchanged shirts with friend and KSC player Boubacar Barry whilst on holiday in Ibiza. Bauer posted a picture on Instagram wearing the shirt of his former youth team club, Karlsruher SC.
