Fritz named as Honorary Team Captain

Before kick-off in Werder’s final home game of the season against TSG Hoffenheim, Clemens Fritz was named an Honorary Team Captain of the Green-Whites. As the Weser-Stadion said goodbye to Fritz, he also received a framed captain’s armband from Werder’s executive board. The 36 year old, who will end his career in the summer, becomes Bremen’s eighth Honorary Captain.

The seven other Werder legends who Fritz joins as an Honorary Captain are: Richard Ackerschott, Arnold "Pico" Schütz, Horst-Dieter Höttges, Dieter Burdenski, Dieter Eilts, Marco Bode and Frank Baumann.
