The wait is almost over! Werder Bremen take on FV Illertissen in the first round of the German DFB Cup on Sunday (kick-off 2:30 p.m.) in their first competitive match of the 2014-15 season. And the goal is clear - Robin Dutt's team absolutely wants to advance to the second round of the cup. WERDER.DE have compiled the statistics about the match.

Did you know ...

... that SVW have never played against FV Illertissen? The German Cup match between the Green-Whites and the Bavarian fourth division side will be the first time the sides face off. It's no wonder since FV Illertissen will be playing in the cup for just the second time this season after the club lost in the first round last season against Eintracht Frankfurt.

... that two new acquisitions could make their debuts in the German Cup? Both Alejandro Gálvez and Izet Hajrovic would be playing in their first match if they play against FVI in the cup. Fin Bartels however has already collected experience in the cup, playing nine times for FC St. Pauli and Hansa Rostock.

... that the Green-Whites have only been held scoreless in one of their last 36 cup matches? The only time Fritz, Junuzovic and Co. couldn't score was the 2010 cup final against FC Bayern.

... what Robin Dutt thinks of FV Illertissen? "We know how FV Illertissen have started the season. Since they have already played six matches, they will have a certain rhythm. Still, we should be able to keep our confidence and the respect for our opponent in check. We will certainly not brush them aside, but we shouldn't make ourselves smaller than we are. We are clearly the favourite."
