The third and final training camp of the 2013-14 season preparations is coming to an end! After six strenuous days, SV Werder are returning home on Thursday 25 July 2013. But on their way back to Bremen, the Green-Whites have another test match as Robin Dutt's team will take on FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt.
The glory days of RW Erfurt are long over. The footballers from Thuringia were considered a title contender in the former East Germany, winning the championship in 1954 and 1955. But the club is now playing in the third division.
Special match for Fritz
Clemens Fritz played for Rot-Weiß Erfurt from 1999 to 2001 and scored 14 goals in 58 third division matches during that time. "I still follow with great interest what RWE are doing. Of course it's kind of special for me to play back home, even though it's not the first time I am playing in Erfurt for Werder. There will be some friends and family in the stadium. We hope that we can give the fans a good match," said Fritz about the personal meaning of the match.
Third win after 2007 and 2011?
Dutt would also like to see a good match from his team, saying: "We are slowly crystallizing into a team. We need to take the next steps as a whole team. Everybody has the chance to play his way into the team in Erfurt."
