Werder Bremen came back with a late goal to secure a 3-3 draw in a thrilling football match at home against Hannover 96. In front of 40,932 spectators, Werder wasted a 2-1 lead and fell behind 3-2 before picking up a point in the end. Zlatko Junuzovic, Melvyn Lorenzen and Davie Selke scored the goals for SV Werder while Joselu tallied twice for Hannover and Lars Stindl once.

Five changes
Werder coach Viktor Skripnik made five changes to his starting line-up. Richard Strebinger was between the posts for the injured Raphael Wolf. In addition, Luca Caldirola, Alejandro Galvez, Lorenzen and Janel Sternberg played for Santiago Garcia, Assani Lukimya, Selke and the injured Sebastian Prödl.

Stindl and Junuzovic score
Werder had the first chance in the third minute as Theo Gebre Selassie got to a free kick from Junuzovic but Hannover keeper Ron-Robert Zieler stopped the Czech international's header. The Green-Whites fell behind 1-0 in the 12th minute as Strebinger stopped an initial shot by Joselu but Stindl got to the loose ball and hit home near the left post. Werder struggled to find a rhythm after Hannover's goal. But the Green-Whites were given a free kick in the 37th minute and Junuzovic placed his free kick perfectly into the upper left corner from 23 yards out. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 at the break in front of 40,932 spectators.

Lead for Werder
The second half was hectic and Werder had a chance just two minutes after the re-start with Fin Bartels' shot from six yards out beating Zieler but Albornoz cleared the ball at the line. The Werder fans were able to celebrate a goal in the 55th minute as Bartels passed from his own half to Lorenzen, who got past Christian Schulz and then scored to make it 2-1 for the Green-Whites. The lead lasted only seven minutes as Hannover evened the score at 2-2 in the 62nd minute. A throw-in went through Briand and Kiyotake to Joselu, who was not covered and beat a helpless Strebinger for the equaliser. Werder were shocked 120 seconds later as Kiyotake's free kick sailed past everyone in the box and Strebinger as well, giving the guests a 3-2 lead.

Selke scores equaliser
Werder refused to give up and fought until the final minute and was rewarded for their effort with the 3-3 equaliser in the 88th minute. A cross from Galvez went to the substitute Selke, who hit home to finish off a crazy football match at Weser Stadium. Werder fought back with morale to earn one point but still are 17th in the table after 15 match days.
