Werder Bremen were not able to win their home match against Eintracht Frankfurt on the 33rd game day but the 1-1 draw was enough to secure a spot in Bundesliga next season. The Green-Whites avoided relegation due to the results from Hoffenheim, Düsseldorf and Augsburg. Kevin De Bruyne gave Werder the lead before Srdjan Lakic equalised for the guests.

No changes
Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf did not make any changes from his last line-up that earned a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim at Weser Stadium.

Chances for Petersen and Hunt
The sold-out crowd of 42,100 spectators at Weser Stadium once again provided a great and impressive atmosphere. Werder started the match with a lot of motivation and had their first chance after four minutes though Nils Petersen's header would not go in. Aaron Hunt was the next unlucky Green-Whites player as his long distance sailed just wide.

De Bruyne scores
The Werder fans were finally able to celebrate in the 22nd minute as De Bruyne brought the Green-Whites ahead 1-0 in their final home match of the 2012-13 season. De Bruyne collected a fine through ball from Philipp Bargfrede and hit home.

1-0 lead at the break
After Werder took the lead, the guests became stronger and found their rhythm. De Bruyne was close once again shooting just wide from long distance, sending Bremen into the break leading 1-0.

Lakic equalises
The second half started poorly for Werder as Frankfurt scored the equaliser in the 51st minute as Matmour passed to Lakic, who struck into the empty Werder goal. Bremen were lucky to not fall behind in the 58th minute as Clemens Fritz lost a ball but Inui volleyed over the framework.

Exciting final moments
Frankfurt were the better team in the second half with Werder being nervous. But Bremen stabilised their game again in the final moments and secured their spot in the Bundesliga with the crucial 1-1 draw.
