Werder Bremen fought back to collect a 2-2 draw in their away match against Fortuna Düsseldorf on the 29th game day of the Bundesliga. Stefan Reisinger scored twice for Düsseldorf while Zlatko Junuzovic and Martin Latka (own goal) tallied goals for the Green-Whites.
Four changes
Head coach Thomas Schaaf did not have the services of leaders such as Sokratis, Tom Trybull, Aaron Hunt, Clemens Fritz and Aleksandar Ignjovski and had to make four changes to his starting line-up, which included Mateo Pavlovic, Junuzovic, Philipp Bargfrede and Felix Kroos.
Early Düsseldorf goal
Werder once again had a poor start to the match as Düsseldorf led 1-0 after two minutes. Robbie Kruse's pass went through Werder's defence to Reisinger, who looped the ball over the out-charging Werder keeper Sebastian Mielitz for a 1-0 Düsseldorf advantage. Bremen struggled after that to find a rhythm against the strong promoted club.
Junuzovic nets equaliser
Schaaf's team was able to net the important equaliser in the 16th minute as Kevin De Bruyne had a long run before passing to Junuzovic, who pushed the ball home to make it 1-1. After that, the 54,600 fans at Düsseldorf's Esprit Arena saw a very even match, which went into the break with the teams dead-locked at 1-1.
2-1 for Düsseldorf
Werder's defence once again failed to stay concentrated shortly after the re-start and conceded another goal by Reisinger to make it 2-1 in the 48th minute as the goal-scorer beat Mielitz to the far left corner.
Own goal by Latka
Werder were able to equalise again after 70 minutes 2-2 as Düsseldorf's defender Martin Latka re-directed Marko Arnautovic's blast into the box past his keeper. In the end, Werder were able to celebrate at least one point with a 2-2 draw in another unconvincing performance.
