Borussia Mönchengladbach made their way to Bremen for their game against Werder Bremen Tuesday 10 April 2012 at 8 p.m. at Weser Stadium with their Marco Reus being banged up. It remains unclear if the German international's thigh will be fit enough to allow him to play against Werder.

And Werder will have a very strong opponent in Borussia Möchengladbach. The Green-Whites do not have many good memories of their 5-0 loss in the first match-up this season. But Gladbach are not thinking about the distant past after picking up just one victory in their last seven matches. "At the moment we just don't have any luck. We have to fight to get that back. But I don't think Borussia will sink now. Things just went pretty as pink for us in the league. But we knew that this kind of phase would come. We just are having it at the end of the season," said Gladbach striker Mike Hanke.

Europe is very close - for the first time since 1996

Despite the current struggles, Gladbach are close to qualifying for international play for next season. They are nine points ahead of fifth-placed Stuttgart and 11 points from eighth place, which would keep them from playing internationally. "They have a lot of confidence and are in an excellent position which they want to defend and improve," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf. "Even when things don't go that well, they don't give up anything. And they have done that all season. This team is level-headed and heads towards their goals."

And third place can still be possible. But in order to keep Schalke from pulling away, Gladach must snap their negative streak. "We have to be more intelligent with the ball. That means having patience and playing the ball deep at the right moment," said Gladbach head coach Lucien Favre before heading north. "It will be an entirely different match against Bremen if Werder play more offensive because Bremen are still fighting for the Europa League spots. They have to win at home. We have to remain compact defensively and watch out especially for Claudio Pizarro," added sports director Max Eberl. "So this time we can counter out of a compact defence. And that is our strength." Marco Reus would be important for that and Gladbach are hoping that he will be on hand. But halfback Tony Jantschke will not be available with a butt muscle injury.
