The first Bundesliga appearance came in the season opener in Berlin and was followed by a debut in the starting line-up and then his first goal with the professional team. Werder's young talent Marnon Busch can look back on an eventful past month. "Everything has gone very, very quick for me. It's a good feeling to be on the pitch and I enjoy every second. I am soaking up the atmosphere and try to learn at every training and during every appearance," said Busch after the match in Wolfsburg, where the right back scored to make it 1-1 in the 37th minute.
It was his first Bundesliga goal in his sixth competitive match for the Green-Whites and his celebration showed just how much the goal meant for him. But Busch's goal wasn't enough to help the Green-Whites get any points in Wolfsburg. "The same thing goes for him that goes for the whole team - he did some good things in the match but still had to learn some lessons in the odd situation," said head coach Robin Dutt, who started the 19-year-old against Wolfsburg just like against Schalke.
Busch has been with Werder for seven years as he went through all the youth teams. Despite a speedy development, he still has plenty of hard work to do with SVW. "I much, much rather had collected three points. In general I am disappointed despite the amazing feeling of the goal," said Busch. "We are making individual mistakes which we must stop making," said the youngster, who hopes to improve on that in the home match against SC Freiburg.
Still, if it's with Busch, his teammates or Dutt - the belief in the "Werder Way" is stronger than ever. "Of course, a goal is scored in the situations where we have to learn. But we are working intensively with Marnon and hopefully soon he will have one goal scored and none conceded on paper," said Dutt.
