SV Werder and Raphael Wolf have prematurely extended the keeper's contract until the end of this season for two more years until 30 June 2017. Wolf, who became the Green-Whites' number one keeper at the end of the first half of last season, as well as Werder manager of sports Thomas Eichin signed the contract extension Tuesday afternoon in Bremen.

"Raphael has gone through an excellent development. He was a strong backbone for the team in a difficult season. We are happy that we could extend with him," said Eichin. Wolf also was very satisfied with the extension of his deal. "I am really happy that I could extend the deal today and can play here in the coming years. I think I have done my work well and was able to help the team. It's an honour to be the number one at a club like Werder," said Wolf.

The Munich native transferred in 2012 from Austrian club Kapfenberger SV to Werder. After 10 appearances for Werder's U23s in the Regionalliga Nord league and an ACL tear in his left knee in March 2013, the 26-year-old has been Werder's number one in goal since the end of the first half of the 2013-14 season. Altogether, the keeper played 21 matches for the Green-Whites. In the up-coming season, Wolf will wear No. 1 on his back.
