SV Werder have ended their eight-day training camp in Belek, Turkey and started their way back to Bremen at 4 p.m. local time with the plane expected to land in the evening. That ends the intensive days along the Turkish Riviera and the players, coaching staff and team leaders all had a positive response.
"We were able to prepare for the second half here with full concentration and intensity. We worked on some special content in the sessions and the matches were informative tests because of the selection of the opponents and the performances shown," said manager of sport Thomas Eichin. With two to three intensive training sessions per day, the team laid the foundation for the second half of the season. And the victories over Cottbus (3-2), Fujairah (3-1) and Mönchengladbach (3-2) gave Junuzovic, Bargfrede and Co. additional confidence.
The Regnum Carya team hotel provided the Green-Whites with a "nearly perfect accommodation" for the eight days of the training camp, according to team manager Tim Barten. "I would really like to thank the hotel and its personnel. We had excellent conditions in every way. If the weather was a little bit better, you could say it was 100 percent perfect," said Barten.
After the victory in the last test match Tuesday night, the Werder players went out for a night of bowling, billiard and table tennis. Head coach Viktor Skripnik and his coaching team had the players go through a running session Wednesday morning as Fritz and Co. ran two laps around the hotel's golf course with athletics coach Reinhard Schnittker.
