Not all of the Werder players will be involved in training with the rest of their team-mates over the next few days. Following their successful start to the season, a total of eight Green-Whites headed off to join up with their respective national teams for international friendlies on Tuesday and Wednesday. This week will be a rather special one for Özkan Yildirim. German ‘Under 21' trainer Horst Hrubesch named the 20 year old in his squad for the first time.

Whilst ‘Ötzi' will be in action on Tuesday, 13.08.2013 at 8:30pm (live on Eurosport) with the German ‘Under 21's' against their French counterparts in Freiburg, six further Werder men will be representing their national teams on Wednesday. The Austrian trio of Marko Arnautovic, Zlatko Junuzovic and Sebastian Prödl will face Greece in Salzburg. Theodor Gebre is in the Czech squad to face Hungary in Budapest. Mehmet Ekicic and the Turkish national side have a home tie (Istanbul) against Ghana and Aleksandar Ignjovski will face the Columbian national team in Barcelona. Werder's Levent Aycicek will not be in direct action. The 19 year old will participate in an educational event with the German ‘Under 20's'.

The Werder representatives are all expected back in Bremen on Thursday, 15.08.2013. In the meantime, the Green-Whites can help build on the self-confidence won in Braunschweig as they prepare to play host to FC Augsburg in their first home game of the 2013/2014 season.
