Werder players Sebastian Boenisch, Sokratis, Markus Rosenberg and Tim Wiese left Bremen just days after the final Bundesliga match to start preparations for the European Championship. The internationals and their teams will begin Euro2012 on 8 June 2012.
Aleksandar Ignjovski, Francois Affolter and the Austrians Sebastian Prödl, Zlatko Junuzovic and Marko Arnautovic will be playing test matches for their teams. "Iggy" headed out to Serbia last Friday 18 May 2012 while the Switzerland national team coach Ottmar Hitzfeld nominated Affolter to the Swiss team, which will take on Germany on Saturday 26 May 2012 and then Romania four days later.
Prödl, Arnautovic and Junuzovic will join the Austrian national team on Thursday. The Austrians will play a test match against Ukraine on 1 June 2012 and then against Romania on 5 June 2012.
Florian Hartherz and Niclas Füllkrug left nearly two weeks ago for the German U19 national team. The youngsters will be with elite round until Thursday 31 May 2012 and will take on Serbia, Romania and Hungary in the coming days.
Philipp Bargfrede and Mehmet Ekici meanwhile have postponed their holidays. They want to remain in Bremen until completely healing from their injuries. And the remainder of the Green-Whites will be heading to holidays. All the players will return to Weser Stadium for the start of training on 5 July 2012 at 10 a.m.
