On the day of the test match against Olympiacos Piraeues in Meppen, Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf had to deal with two bits of bad news as neither Wesley nor Leon Balogun were able to take part in the morning session with the team. "Wesley has an ankle injury. We don't know anything more yet. It happened during training on Monday. He will be out for now," said Schaaf about the Brazilian midfielder.
Also missing was the centre back Balogun. "I have a slight strain in my adductors," said the defender, who will not be an option for the game Tuesday night against the Greek record champions.
The following 19 players were nominated for the game Tuesday (kick off 7 p.m.) at the MEP Arena.
Wiese, Mielitz, Fritz, Schmitz, Papastathopoulos, Wolf, Schoppenhauer, Borowski, Marin, Hunt, Trybull, Aleksandar Stevanovic, Florian Trinks, Philipp Bargfrede, Arnautovic, Rosenberg, Wagner, Schindler, Thy.
