After the final training Sandro Wagner was told he needs to be patient. The Werder striker would have loved to have strapped on his boots Thursday afternoon and head out to the pitch with his teammates. But it was still too early for that.

The 23-year-old could not take part on the training session, instead having treatment done and working individually on his comeback. "There is a chance that he can play, but it's not yet certain. We have to wait and see," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. Denni Advic and Tim Borowski will definitely miss the game against Wolfsburg with injuries. <

"Putting the crown on top of the result against St. Pauli"

Still, the Green-Whites can go into the game with confidence, according to manager Klaus Allofs referring to the team's eight-game unbeaten streak. "We have really gotten a lot of confidence in the last couple weeks. But everyone who can add knows that we are not yet saved and we will go into the game with that mindset." Captain Torsten Frings meanwhile added: "We finally want some peace." And Clemens Fritz chipped in: "It's time to give our fans a home victory. We want to put the crown on top of the good result against St. Pauli with a victory against Wolfsburg."

The following 16 players are on Werder's game roster against Wolfsburg: Wiese, Mielitz, Pasanen, Wesley, Arnautovic, Fritz, Marin, Hunt, Silvestre, Wagner, Frings, Pizarro, Mertesacker, Stevanovic, Schmidt, Bargfrede.
