The week before the North Derby began quietly at Weser Stadium. The players did not have training which gave them time to think about the most emotional away match of the year - the game against Hamburg.
"It is always nice and something special to play there. It's always nice to run out there against Hamburg - whether it's at home or their place," said Marko Marin about the up-coming match. But the Green-Whites definitely should add some points to their standings at the end of the week. "We want to bring something back home. Hamburg is a good opponent for us. We deservedly won the first encounter 2-0," said the midfielder optimistically.
But Werder definitely also want to keep a clean sheet this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. And goalkeeper Tim Wiese will begin training Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. with this goal. He knows that the majority of the fans at the Imtech Arena will not be supporting him. "It's a long history with Hamburg. Everything started with the kick against Olic. Since then they are all angry at me even though I assured them a thousand times that I didn't even see him and that the issue is long past," said Wiese. "It will be a really tight game in Hamburg and a game everyone is looking forward to," added manager Klaus Allofs.
