The 2013-14 Bundesliga season is just three days away for SV Werder when they kick off the season against promoted side Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday 10 August 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Head coach Robin Dutt called his team in for a two-hour training session Wednesday afternoon to work on the final fine-tuning. Zlatko Junuzovic was only able to train partially while seven players missed practice altogether.

While Eljero Elia was still fighting a purulent infection, Aleksandar Stevanovic was hit with an angina. Neither of them will train the rest of the week and will miss out on the first match day. Tom Trybull (foot stress reaction) and Richard Strebinger were still out but were getting close to returning to training. The long-term injured players Lukas Schmitz (broken tarsal), Philipp Bargfrede (knee meniscus) and Predrag Stevanovic (knee ligament) will need quite a bit more time before they can return to the training grounds.

"Zladdi" meanwhile was able to take part in Wednesday's training after recovering from his muscular problems - though it was only individual drills. "Juno will return to training in full tomorrow," said Dutt after the session. But the fans will have to wait an extra day to see the Austrian in action again as the session Thursday 8 August 2013 will not take place on the Weser Stadium training grounds therefore closed to the public.
