They did it again! The Werder players once again took to the stage at their traditional visit at the Freimarkt folk festival Monday evening. As customary in recent years, the Green-Whites showed up at the Bavarian tent and the new acquisitions sang the club's hymn "Lebenslang Grün-Weiß" ("Life-long Green-Whites") to a flood of fans. "As a Werder player, it's the best to sign ‘Lebenslang Grün-Weiß' at the Bayern tent," said keeper Sebastian Mielitz with a wide grin on his face. "It's very nice to spend some time with the fans here," added the keeper.

In addition to ‘Miele', the newcomers were also challenged last night to show off their singing skills to "Lebenslang Grün-Weiß". Petersen, Elia, Lukimya and company, however, did get the support from the team, going along with the motto "Only together are we strong".

Niclas Füllkrug and Nils Petersen were especially impressive with their knowledge of the lyrics, singing their way into the fans' hearts. "I admit, I practiced. We got the lyrics ahead of time," said the striker, who still has a contract with Bayern Munich. "I felt very at home on the stage. It was a nice occasion to have some contact with the fans. In Munich, I was only at Oktoberfest once with the team. I have already been to the Freimarkt three times with the family. That was a nice experience," said the 23-year-old Petersen.

After the musical show for the fans, the Werder players withdrew to a reserved lodge and continued to celebrate amongst themselves. But football was not a focal point. "We didn't talk about football today. I think it's a welcome change to strengthen the team spirit," said Sebastian Prödl. Captain Clemens Fritz also saw the event as positive. "It's nice for the fans, the mood was great. The Freimarkt visit is a nice tradition," said Fritz about his seventh Monday visit to the Freimarkt.
