Two days before the last game day of the season, the personnel situation got a bit thinner as keeper Richard Strebinger missed training Thursday afternoon after Özkan Yildirim and Aaron Hunt have missed the last two and three days, respectively.
"Richard suffered a bruised hip muscle in the U23's 5-3 win yesterday. We will know tomorrow if he can be on hand in Nuremberg," said co-coach Wolfgang Rolff after the Thursday session.
"Regarding the other two, we will have to wait the next few hours. Aaron continues to labour with adductors problems while Özkan still has tendon inflammation in the ankle," said the other co-coach Matthias Hönerbach.
Those who think the possible absences in the final Bundesliga match of the season in Nuremberg will not have an impact are wrong. Werder are stuck in a 12-match winless streak with one more draw or defeat meaning a new record. "Every match is important and therefore we go into the match in Nuremberg intending to win.
