+++ The Werder players started the preparations for the second half of the Bundesliga season with a lactate test. Nils Petersen, for one, didn't have any problem with it. "It did good to rest a few days and visit the loved ones. Still, the anticipation that things are finally starting back up was pretty big. And the fact that we didn't have a long winter break meant you really didn't get out of the rhythm," said Petersen. +++
+++ Departure! After two training days in Bremen, the Werder team will head out of town on Wednesday for Jerez. The plane leaves Bremen Airport at 9 a.m. for Jerez de la Frontera. Head coach Robin Dutt and his men will go through a 10-day training camp in the south of Spain. And the first two test matches of the new year will take place in Jerez as well. The Green-Whites will face Dutch side NEC Nijmegen on Sunday 12 January 2014 and then play Romanian champions Steaua Bucharest on Thursday 16 January 2014. +++
+++ Füllkrug shows early form: Niclas Füllkrug played last Sunday for SpVgg Greuther Fürth indoors at the FrankfurtCup. The loaned Werder player scored a goal in Fürth's 4-2 final win over Eintracht Frankfurt and was the top scorer in the tournament with three scores. Keep it up Niclas! +++
