Twelve months fly by like nothing - highs and lows, celebrations and disappointments, departures and new faces. The year 2012 was one of major change which was signified not only by personnel changes. It's not easy to keep track of everything. So WERDER.DE put together it's Year in Review with some of the most extraordinary Green-Whites moments of the year. Today the fifth part: The best quotes of the year.

5. Schaaf isn’t surprised any more

Bundesliga head coaches answer journalists' questions nearly every day. Occasionally a coach reads quotes in the newspaper which he cannot remember for the life of him that having said. Thomas Schaaf gave a possible explanation as part of a media session at the training camp in Donaueschingen. "You cannot even read what you wrote there. It doesn't surprise me when I read something totally different in the newspaper the next day," said the good-spirit Werder coach to the press members writing down his comments.

4. False modesty

At the beginning of the season, Nils Petersen used the opportunity to present himself to Werder fans in a live video chat ("Google+Hangout). The striker offered up many private impressions. When asked if he spends his free time playing football video games, he not only answered yes, but added: "I also like being myself when I play. I can actually score a goal." One Werder supporter said that Petersen is in the digital manager game from the sports magazine kicker. And the 24-year-old Werder forward said: "I bought myself because I only cost 1.8 million." But the Werder striker has proven in the first half of the season that he doesn't need to be so modest. Petersen is Werder's leading scorer with seven goals and only seven Bundesliga players have scored more often.

3. Tips from coach

During the summer training camp in Zillertal, the Bremen fans on hand spent one evening grilling with the players and Werder leaders. During a question-and-answer session, one of the Werder supporters outted himself as a Gelsenkirchen native who wanted to know if it would be worthwhile to see the Green-Whites in the stadium there after two big road losses. Head coach Thomas Schaaf wanted to answer first and provided for plenty of laughs when he said: "First of all, you should move."

2. Arnautovic and the phantom foul

But once again, Bremen were unable to get any points at Schalke this season. On the 11th match day, the Green-Whites had a stronger performance than last season but still lost 2-1 after leading the game. The game-changing moment was the 1-1 goal by Neustädter, which was scored on a free kick. The set piece was awarded after Schalke's Jermaine Jones was apparently fouled by Marko Arnautovic. The Austrian was irritated in an interview after the match because he couldn't recall any foul on Jones. "Maybe I have cortisone in my body and cannot feel anything."

1. Literally

In September, Sebastian Prödl, Zlatko Junuzovic and Marko Arnautovic played a strong match with the Austrian national team against Germany in a World Cup qualifier. The Germans were a bit lucky to have won 2-1 as "Arni" failed to convert a huge chance late in the match. Ahead of Werder's following Bundesliga match against Hannover, a journalist apparently was worried that the striker was still struggling to deal with the missed chance. "How did Arnautovic come back to Bremen?" was the question to head coach Thomas Schaaf, who answered dryly: "With the plane."
