What a black day for Werder Bremen. They played poorly, made too many errors and in the end deserved to clearly lose 3-0 against Mainz at Weser Stadium. WERDER.DE collected reaction after the match.

Klaus Allofs:
"That was alarming today. We were missing elementary things that you have to do in a Bundesliga match if you have thoughts of qualifying for international play. The will to prevail. I didn't have the feeling that the team wanted that today."

Clemens Fritz:
"The fans supported us superbly until the end, but we could not implement our game plan. Mainz played clever and stood deep and defended their goal. We didn't find any answers against that and the longer the match lasted, the more mistakes we made. The 3-0 loss was very disappointing, a black day."

Thomas Schaaf:
"We are very disappointed. We didn't play well today. The first 15 minutes we tried intensively to build up some pressure but unfortunately we were unable to use this phase for us. Their goal came out of nowhere and totally took us out of our rhythm."

Naldo:
"We were much too passive in challenges while Mainz was active. Neither half was good for us. After winning a ball we would just lose it again. We just wanted to play football. Coach talked about exactly that the whole week in training. One point from the last two games is of course not enough. And the disappointment is accordingly big."
