What a feeling! The first home game of the season picked up just where the last game at the ‚Weser-Stadium' left off. The „Danke, Thomas" choreography ended with a massive banner displaying the message „Auf geht's, Robin", (Let's go Robin) and the crowd were 100% infected with the Werder bug! A mixture of spirited will and extreme tension created a stunning buzz around the stadium.

At the final whistle, the Werder players crashed to the pitch with exhaustion whilst manager Thomas Eichin, trainer Robin Dutt and co-trainer Damir Buric grouped together in celebration. Pure emotion on the banks of the Weser! „That was a nerve-wracking ninety minutes against a strong opponent. The team developed a super mentality. The lads have all realized that it's going to be a difficult season that our game demands a blend of effort and intensive legwork but also that all of that can lead us to believe we can win games. The fans feel that too, which is why they are right behind us although it may not be stunning football that they are seeing," praised Thomas Eichin and admitted that the team had him on the edge of his seat too: "I was a bit over-enthusiastic on the bench watching the lads working and battling. That was really enjoyable today".

WERDER.DE gathered the post match comments following the 1-0 win over FC Augsburg:

Robin Dutt: „The team cannot be perfect, be they don't need to be perfect. You don't develop a new style by losing games 3-4 or 4-5, when you have all the statistics in your favour and have played great football. You develop that step-by-step from winning games 1-0! I can really feel that the fans have accepted that honoured that fact

Aaron Hunt: „That really feels good. We have made the ideal start and there are not many who believed we would do that".

Sebastian Prödl: "It's clear that not everything went exactly to plan in the first two games of the season but we are delighted about the six points and that we have started the season without concerns. It's a long time since we started a campaign so well but we know just where to classify that and we know that we haven't played as well as the points on the table may suggest".
