Head coach Thomas Schaaf's reaction to the question about Naldo at the official press conference Thursday afternoon said it all as the Brazilian has taken a big step forward. "He took part in team training yesterday for the first time in about a year. And the biggest positive is that he didn't have any reaction that would say we have to take a big step backwards. Naldo is like a new acquisition for us," said the pleased Bremen coach.
The Brazilian himself was naturally overjoyed. "I survived the session pretty well. I feel good and am very satisfied," said the centre back after Thursday's training. It remains unclear when the defender can return to game action.
The Green-Whites' coach was also happy about other news regarding Werder's other injured players. "Mehmet (Ekici) is back and Claudio is in running training. And things also look good for Sebastian Prödl and Per Mertesacker," said Schaaf. Even though that trio are not back in full and will not be in the squad for the game at Heidenheim on Saturday 30 July 2011, the news is definitely good.
