The national team weeks are nearly over for the Werder players. While Austrian internationals Sebastian Prödl, Zlatko Junuzovic and Richard Strebinger are all already finished playing their games, Davie Selke, Martin Kobylanski and Ludovic Obraniak all have one more match to play.
The last contest for Prödl and Junuzovic before the start of the Euro 2016 qualification in September was a test match against the Czech Republic in Olmütz, where Theodor Gebre Selassie was not on the Czech roster and Austria won 2-1. Prödl played the full 90 minutes while Junuzovic played only the first half.
Werder keeper Richard Strebinger meanwhile did not play in the Austrian U21 team's 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
Martin Kobylanski was also nominated for his country's U21 team, for the first time after four appearances with the Polish U20s and 13 with the U19s. ‘Koby' could make his debut on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. against Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Ludovic Obraniak also still has one more match as Poland's senior national team takes on Lithuania on Friday 5:30 p.m. in Gdansk. If Werder's freekick specialist plays, it would be his 35th cap with the Polish seniors.
Davie Selke faces a much more important match on Thursday as the Werder youth striker and the German U19s take on Spain in qualification for the 2015 U19 European Championship. The match in Vigo kicks off at 8:30 p.m. Germany have two wins from two matches and hold the better goal differential than Spain, meaning a draw is enough to advance at top team in the group.
