Schaaf: "Cottbus is forgotten"

"The defeat by Cottbus is now forgotten. We intend to move forward against 1860 Munich", said Schaaf who is currently completing a trainings camp in Schruns, Austria. The tie against the "Löwen" (Lions) is Werders fifth pre-season test. After three clear wins at Bornreihe (16:1), Niederkassel (15:0) and Meppen (7:0)the Hanseastic side then suffered theri first defeat going down 2:1 to Cottbus on Friday evening.

The opponents fron Munich are also currently completing a traings camp in Sterzig (South Tirol) preparing to launch an attack on their return to the Bundesliga. TSV camp fourth in the second division last season, narrowly missing out on promotion. 1860 General Manager commented, "Werder is a real tough test for our team."

"Löwen" unbeaten after win against Mönchengladbach

The "Löwen" are as yet unbeaten during the pre-season test period. On the back of clear wins against amateur sides (Aindling, Türk SV, Ergolding, Mainburg selection), the Munich team, made their first real step forward beating Mönchengladbach 2:1 last Wednesday. "A deserved win against an attractive opponent", gloated Stefan Reisinger who considers the tie with Werder "Our next big challenge." "We are still unbeaten and hope to remain so after playing Werder Bremen", commented the striker who will most likely play alongside Paul Agostino up front.

TSV preside over a relatively young squad, but also a number of experienced pros. From keeper Michael Hoffmann to Fabian Lamotte, Torben Hoffmann, Harald Cerney and Marco Gebhardt or Paul Agostino and Michael Lehmann, they've all played in the Bundesliga. Without a doubt, the "Löwen" sides most renowened name is that of Czech star Roman Tyce who will only play the roll of spectator on Monday night. The 28 year-old is still in rehab recovering from a cruciate ligament operation.
