It’s the top showdown of the third game day: Werder Bremen face off with Bayern Munich on Saturday 11 September 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at Allianz Arena. And as usual, WERDER.DE presents the facts about the game.
• Bayern’s last home victory over Werder is nearly five years ago – Bayern won 3-1 in November 2005 with Pizarro scoring for Bayern and Klose hitting for Werder.
• Bayern are facing Werder Bremen for the 99th time in a competitive match with 46 Bayern wins, 25 draws and 27 Werder victories. The 100th showdown is also coming soon with another match-up in the German Cup on 26 October.
• Since leaving Werder in 2007, Bayern striker Miroslav Klose has not scored in seven matches against Bremen. Mario Gomez meanwhile has scored more often against Werder than any other team (seven goals in 11 matches).
• Philipp Lahm has played the entire 90 minutes of his last 43 Bundesliga matches – making him among the leaders in that category in the league (only the streak of Schalke keeper Manuel Neuer is longer at 46 games).
• Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer celebrates his 65th birthday on the day of the match.
• Bayern are the only Bundesliga club not to have spent money this summer for new players.
