The International Federation of Football History & Statistics, IFFHS for short, have announced their current world club rankings. As the second best German team, Werder are in fourth place – Worldwide!
With a tally of 236 points, the Green-Whites are ahead of teams such as Manchester United (217 pts), Arsenal London (216 pts) and Real Madrid (202 pts). Only FC Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and FC Barcelona managed to collect more points than Werder Bremen between August 2009 and July 2010. During that period, all results from the domestic leagues as well both the domestic and European cup competitions were taken into account. Werder’s impressive performance in the league (third place) and progression to the cup final were the major factors in the excellent achievement in the rankings by trainer Thomas Schaaf’s men.
