He has played an excellent season in Werder Bremen's four-man backline. And with eight goals in 20 games, Naldo is one of Bremen's top scorers this season - and that as defender. WERDER.DE took time to talk to the 27-year-old before the game against Wolfsburg.

Hello Naldo, Wolfsburg had to play on Wednesday in Moscow in the Champions League. Do you think that could be an advantage for Werder?

Surely it's an additional burden for Wolfsburg which we did not have this week. But I believe they have a top fit team which can deal with it. From my point of view, it's not an advantage for us. They will come here with a strong team.

With Josué and Grafite, the Wolves have two Brazilians in their ranks. Do you keep in contact with your compatriots?

Yeah, I have regular contact with Josué. We see each other pretty often, also with the Brazilian national team and compare notes. For us of course it's very good that he will not be playing on the weekend in Bremen (eds: Josué was shown his fifth yellow card in the last Bundesliga game against Nurnberg and is suspended for one game). He is a very good player and his loss will be extremely tough. I don't have any personal contact with Grafite.

The German champions from Wolfsburg have not really found their rhythm yet this season. Right now, they are currently in eighth place. Do you see the Wolves as a serious title contender at the end of the season?

I think that they can compete for the title. Wolfsburg have a very strong team, though the roster has hardly changed from last season. The standings do not really say too much right now with everyone so close to one another.
