Werder Bremen will be without Tim Borowski and Sebastian Boenisch for their Bundesliga away match against Stuttgart. Head coach Thomas Schaaf said his roster for the Sunday game will be the same as the one for his team's 3-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League.
Sebastian Boenisch missed the game against the Basques due to a bruised thigh and said Friday afternoon that he has not yet healed from the injury. "There is still some swelling. And playing only makes sense if I am 100 percent fit," said Boenisch. The 22-year-old left back is looking forward though as there is a national team break following the Stuttgart game. "I want to use that get back into the team with extra workouts," Boenisch added.
Tim Borowski could not return to team training on Friday either due to his lingering back problems. The decimated group on the training grounds at Weser Stadium on Friday included solely players who did not play or received little playing time against Bilbao. The main issue for the rest of the team was rehabilitation so that the Green-Whites can put a strong team onto the pitch again in Stuttgart.
