Werder Bremen and AS St. Étienne agreed to a transfer on Wednesday and Thursday came the contract signing, meaning Boubacar Sanogo’s departure from the Weser was complete. “Bouba” said his farewell to Werder Bremen and their fans on WERDER.DE after just more than one and a half seasons with the team.
"Bouba" after your return from Hoffenheim, you found your form pretty quickly and made a good impression. Does that make the farewell especially difficult?
Of course I am a little sad. We wanted to play a good season and I think I had a strong preparation. Even during holidays I was working out to be ready for the season. But sometimes things go very fast in football.
Your now ex-team-mates Torsten Frings and Clemens Fritz said in a farewell video on WERDER.TV that they will miss your laid-back comments in the locker-room. What would you like to tell your colleagues as you leave?
I think that some team-mates are a little sad, just like the coach. But, like I said, that’s football. We have to accept a new situation and look forward.
Did you have a special relationship with the Werder fans?
During my time in Bremen, the fans were very important for me. I had a really great time here, even if it was tough at times. But the fans were always there for me. The support was very good, and I am really happy about that. I just wanted to say thank you to the fans one more time.
