The some 1,700 Werder Bremen fans making the trip to Italy to support the Green-Whites in their decisive Round of 32 UEFA Cup return leg against AC Milan can expect a similarly warm welcome as the one they gave Milan fans last week at Bremen's Weser Stadion. The Bremen Fan Project organised a German-Italian Fanfest at which fan groups of both teams came together in the EastCurve Hall under the motto "TIFOSI CONTRO IL RAZZISMO" with good music, cool drinks, real espresso and Italian food from Luigi Vizza from Casa Italia.
The three interpreters on site had plenty to do in helping for a better understanding between the fans. "The Fanfest was an excellent event where fan groups from both teams could get ready for the game in a great atmosphere," said Thomas Hafke, a member of the Bremen Fan Project. Satisfied with the event, Hafke added: "It was another step against discrimination." The Werder fan group's anti-discrimination department also choreographed before the start of the game an anti-racism show over the entire East Curve of Weser Stadion.
