Werder's winter addition José-Alex Ikeng finally has spoken his first words since coming to the Green-Whites. He has been with the team since Thursday at their training camp in Belek, Turkey, using the chance to get to know the team better and prove himself. WERDER.DE spoke with the 23-year-old on the first evening of the training camp about his first impressions and goals with Bremen.

Hi José-Alex, you have been with Werder now a couple of days. Are you satisfied with your start here?

Yeah, I am very satisfied with my first days in Bremen. I was really warmly welcomed by everyone. And I noticed right away that Werder is not only a partnership of convenience that will do anything it can to be successful. But rather it is a team that works very well together.

How could you tell that?

Some of the players came to me my second day in Bremen and took me to lunch. And Torsten Frings even lent me his VW Touareg so that I could take care of some formalities surrounding my moving house. I didn't really know that of team-mates beforehand.

That sounds like the transfer went very quickly for you.

Yeah, the transfer was very short-term and definitely was not long in planning. I was in Bremen for the first time in my life shortly before Christmas and had the first talks.

Are there specific things that you want to work on?

I must get used to the high tempo of the Bundesliga as soon as possible. That is a goal. Otherwise, I would also like to continue improving the quickness of my actions.
