Werder Bremen have reacted with severe consequence against the group of Neo-Nazis who were escorted from the ‘Rewirpower-Stadium’ in Bochum on Saturday. The eight right wing extremists, who are currently being investigated by the police, have been issued with immediate bans from the Weser Stadium in Bremen.
The Werder Bremen board explained on Monday: “The likes of these people are unwelcome in our stadium. We are taking this incident very seriously and we will continue to do everything in our power to prevent such occurrences in the future. We are very proud of the vigilant reaction of our fans and consider that to be confirmation of our efforts to prevent discrimination and racism. We will not be relaxing on that front.”
Right wing extremists from the group ‘Nordsturm Brema’ rolled out a banner at the end of the game against VfL Bochum in the Werder Bremen fan block with the racist slogan ‘NS HB Sport Frei’. The Werder fans reacted with chants of “Nazis out” against the agitators. The quick actions of the police and stewards prevented a potentially violent conflict.
