The reconstruction of the Weser Stadium, to transform it into a ‘Pure’ football arena with even more atmosphere and comfort for the spectators, is well under way. Following the work which began during the summer break, the next step in reconstruction is now clear for all to see. Both the north and south stands are currently ‘Top-Less’. The reason: The corrugated iron sheeting which covers each of the stands has now been removed to make way for the new roof.

Due to the construction tasks being performed, both the north and south stands will uncovered for the home tie in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund. The work will have particular effect on blocks 6 to 16 (rows 16 to 35) of the north stand as well as the corresponding rows of blocks 40 to 50 in the south stand. To ensure that all Werder fans in those blocks will be able to enjoy the game sheltered from rain, Werder Bremen is offering a special service. Should weather conditions demand, the fans will be provided with original ‘Werder Rain Capes’ – the service is of course free of charge. The capes will be available from clear distribution points around the stadium and at the entry gates to the respective blocks when entry tickets are displayed.

The construction of the new roofs will begin in early November. Firstly the east and west stands will be covered, with completion expected by the end of December. Work will then commence on the south stand. Both the north and south stands are expected to be completed by the Bundesliga re-start in January. Werder Bremen would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience whilst the construction work continues.
