Werder Bremen’s midfield playmaker Diego was unable to train with the rest of the team on Wednesday, but instead went through a session of light jogging along with Sebastian Boenisch. The Brazilian international was forced to pull out of training early on Tuesday due to a problem with his left thigh.

“It’s nothing too severe”, explained team coach and birthday boy Thomas Schaaf, “but he will go through a rehabilitation today and tomorrow”, continued the trainer. Schaaf has high hopes that the tricky Brazilian will we be back in full team training by Friday.

Club captain Frank Baumann can also expect to be back amongst his colleagues pretty soon. Should the healing process continue as it has thus far, the midfielder could be back in training by Thursday, for the first time since he suffered an ankle injury a fortnight ago. It is a yet unclear as to whether Baumann will be fit to take his place in the squad for the clash with Energie Cottbus. “But it could work out”, commented the captain.
