Under normal circumstances, mail is delivered to your house door or maybe placed in a letter box but, on Wednesday in training, Peter Niemeyer had a letter brought to him directly on the pitch.

Under normal circumstances, mail is delivered to your house door or maybe placed in a letter box but, on Wednesday in training, Peter Niemeyer had a letter brought to him directly on the pitch. Midway through the morning session, a courier loudly announced his delivery for Werder’s midfield man. Niemeyer didn’t need to be called twice and headed immediately to the surrounding fence to collect his post. Later he admitted with a grin: "I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It must be for someone very important."

Back on the pitch there were some even more interesting issues to take note of. Petri Pasanen and Aaron Hunt both returned to the lush green for the first time since being injured and were even able to train with the ball. The duo joined Peter Niemeyer to go through some regenerative training with physio Stefan Wolters. It was the last test for Aaron Hunt before he re-joins the rest of his colleagues: "It all went very smoothly. I’ll be back at it again tomorrow."

Finnish international Pasanen will have to be a little more patient: "I will initially continue to work with our physio but I haven’t cancelled myself out of the game against BVB just yet", claimed the experienced full back. Also positive was that Hugo Almeida put on another impressive display in training on Wednesday.
