SV Werder experienced a tough loss as the Green-Whites will not have the services of Aaron Hunt in the match against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday. Bremen's deputy captain is bed-ridden with a fever. The Hunt absence is a personnel setback after head coach Thomas Schaaf had received two pieces of good news recently with the returns to training of Sokratis and Zlatko Junuzovic.
"He will not be able to do his job of directing and guiding the team. So it's an absence that will clearly be felt," said Schaaf at the official press conference before the Düsseldorf match.
In addition to the long-time injured players Niclas Füllkrug and Joseph Akpala, Lukas Schmitz, Clemens Fritz, Mehmet Ekici and Aleksandar Ignjovski will also miss the match at Esprit Arena. There are also question marks about Tom Trybull and Philipp Bargfrede. While Bargfrede has been dealing with knee problems for nearly a week, Trybull had to leave practice early on Wednesday with a tendon problem. "The total number of players who cannot play limits our game altogether," said Schaaf about the tense personnel situation.
