The World Cup is just about ready to start with Brazil taking on Croatia to open Brazil 2014 on Thursday evening. What about World Cup fever among the Werder players? Will Wolf, Elia and Co. be following the World Cup?
Werder keeper Raphael Wolf, for one, had a clear yes. "I will definitely be watching the World Cup. I will be in front of the television especially when Germany play. But I will also watch the really big matches. If Brazil take on Spain, then I will definitely watch that," said Wolf.
Santiago Garcia meanwhile will be watching the group stage of the tournament in Mexico. The Argentinean is travelling across the country with his twin brother Manuel. In addition to sightseeing, relaxing and shutting down, the brothers also plan on watching football - even if it's in limited form. "Of course I will watch the games from the Argentinean national team. But I will not follow the whole World Cup because I want to get some distance from football during the holiday."
There will be a huge match already on Friday when the Netherlands and Louis van Gaal face off against the reigning world and European champions Spain in Group B in Salvador. And Eljero Elia definitely will not miss this contest of his national team. "I will for sure watch the first match of the Netherlands against Spain on TV. I will wait and see the result before I see how many other games I will watch," grinned Elia. "But I won't really catch much of the first half of the World Cup because I am in Miami and would rather enjoy the people there."
