The Green-Whites' last home victory over Bayern dates back to October 2006. But Werder handed Bayern a loss this season as they won 6-4 in penalties in the semi-finals of the LIGA total! Cup.

WERDER.DE put together other interesting and exciting facts about the classic showdown.

... that Claudio Pizarro has played the most Bundesliga matches as a foreigner with 337 games after the mid-week contest against Wolfsburg? The striker played six years for Werder and scored 89 goals in 159 Bundesliga matches, making him the fourth-best scorer in Bremen's Bundesliga history. WERDER.DE had an extensive interview with the Peruvian ahead of the North-South classic.

... that Bayern are off to their best start in 28 years? FCB's eight wins in eight competitive matches was bettered only in 1984-85 when they won their first nine matches.
